The curatorial team developed a series of outreach activities to disseminate the Exhibition’s contents.

The curatorial team presented a paper and a video at this 2022 conference in Cartagena, Spain. The paper later became an indexed journal article, with some initial findings of the research work, entitled “Graphic Mapping of English Houses in Bogotá (1920 – 1950). An analysis of its propagation”:

In response to an internal call for projects of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, the team developed a project focused on implementing and applying 4.0 tools. This was done in collaboration with the Laboratory of Innovation, Creativity and New Technologies of the National University of Colombia, LAB101UNAL. The output was a pilot virtual exhibition to facilitate both the progress and dissemination of the research that underpinned the project and was decisive in the realisation of the physical exhibition.

On November 9, 10 and 11, 2022, this symposium included a keynote lecture on: ‘The Middle Hall House. Genealogies and Variations’. The event is titled, ‘Analysis form and form of the analysis. Approaches, tools, and processes in research on the architectural project’ was organised by the Master in Architecture programme at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design of Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali.
This event invited participants to reflect on the diverse ways of approaching analysis and the different ways to present and discuss methodological approaches and the research tools and procedures involved in the architectural project.
The Exhibition was launched with a series of six lectures by the national and international curators via different institutional channels. In the closing lectures (26 and 27 October 2023), each one proposed examining in depth aspects related to three main themes addressed in the exhibition: The house in England during the 14th-19th centuries, the English house in Bogota (1930-1950), and the modern house in Bogota (1945-1965), as well as the possibilities for new research inquiries about them.

While the Exhibition was on show at the Museum, the national curators conducted many guided tours for both the public and the academic community, including a visit by a delegation from the British Embassy in Colombia, led by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, George Hodgson.

The Exhibition also included cultural engagement activities, such as an urban drawing tour of the La Magdalena neighbourhood, with the support of Ivan Benavides, professor of Graphic and Industrial Design at the National University, and the Ilustra Anima UN graphic design students’ workshop.

The Colombian Association of Architecture Faculties (ACFA) issued a call for an editorial project aimed at disseminating research work. In response to the call we submitted the research work leading to the Exhibition, which was included in this book anthology. The book recognises research in architecture and its impact and it does it from the perspective of research groups and research seedbeds.

The Exhibition obtained the first prize in the “Dissemination” category and granted it direct access to participation in the XXIX Colombian Biennial of Architecture in 2024.
With these awards, The Colombian Society of Architects – SCA, with the support of the National Professional Council of Architecture and its Auxiliary Professions – CPNAA, seek to identify projects within the categories supported by the Colombian Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism Call, which are characterized by their excellence, providing comprehensive solutions to the different needs of the national territory.
The research team won a PMC grant for a proposed virtual international workshop titled “Academic Encounters: Exhibition “The Middle Hall English House in Bogotá”, which was held in July 2024, to promote the forthcoming Exhibition’s tour in the UK. The Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art is an educational charity and research institute that supports academic research and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of British art and the history of architecture from medieval times to the present.
