The Exhibition is the main output of a funded project by Minciencias ‘Research + Creation in Arts’ 2019, in the Heritage category. It is the result of the strategic alliance between researchers from the “Architecture, Urbanism and Design” group of the Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali and the “Project and Architecture” from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, as well as the participation of researchers from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, Kingston University and the University of Cambridge.

The research underpinning this exhibition consists of studying and understanding the origin and development of the spatial archetype of the three parts and the Middle Hall, through the comparative analysis of three areas:

  • Genealogy: England 14th and 19th centuries.
  • Variations: The English-style Bogota house 1930 – 1950.
  • Interpretations: The modern house in Bogotá 1945 -1965.

This research allows us to approach architecture focusing on the works themselves and understand how certain forms of organization of space arise, persist, are transferred, transformed, and renew their value over time, validating themselves as part of the cultural heritage of a society.

WORKSHOP

The workshop consisted of three public online meetings between the exhibition’s curatorial team and three guest speakers, specialists in British architectural history, to discuss the critical themes of the exhibition in preparation for its tour to the UK
